Aircraft
Interior
Repair &
Overhaul

The first step before applying one of the three decorating processes is to refurbish / repair each component.  Atlanta Aviation International has approved processes to restore a wide range of metallic and composite interior components to a “like new” condition at a fraction of the replacement cost.

Complete compartments such as lavatories, galleys and closets are refurbished to exact specifications.  Composite surfaces are carefully stripped of old laminates and metal surfaces are stripped of all old paint and primer by using plastic media stripping.  The stripped substrate is then inspected for damage and repaired to OEM specifications.  All worn or defective parts are refurbished or replaced.  Finally, the respective surfaces are ready for decoration per the customer’s exact specifications.

The following is AAI’s process surface repair of aviation components.

1) Inspect the part for damage.

2) Components are stripped and cleaned to reveal structure and surface damage requiring repair. Three processes are used for cleaning components.
     a) Chemicals
     b) Heat
     c) Plastic media blasting

3) AAI will repair any cracks, holes, etc., utilizing a process spec approved by all major airlines and the FAA.  Common repairs may include any one of the following methods.
     a) Vacuum bagging
     b) Plastic welding
     c) Fiberglass lay-up
     d) Application of resins and two part components
     e) High speed grinding and polishing
